Yesterday saw the culmination of a busy couple of weeks in preparing for the 3mm AGM at the Stratton Leisure Centre in Swindon. An early start from Weymouth meant arrival at the centre for about 8am. Setting out the hall took a bit of doing but much to my relief we managed to fit everything in. As it was our 50th year the theme was 50:1
Basically anything with 50 in it so we had a combination of layouts plus models and diorama. One of my favourites was Nick Salzman’s 50 Shades of Grey
A very imaginative piece.
Close by was Heybridge wharf by Mike Corp
Another Mike this time Mr Davey brought along a layout depicting a halt on the Culm Valley line
At this juncture I would like to express my thanks for me being able to borrow the cables from Croydon MRS to power the layouts.
There were also non powered items on display one being Phil Hutchings diaroma
Another fine piece was Suttons Bridge by Stephen Moor
Nigel Cullimore brought along North Ealing
Geoff Gay also brought along a fine example of a small shunting yard
Martin Gentle brought along Chesterton Lane halt a fine example of his late dad, Peters model which use to be part of a shed layout
The above were all worthy examples of what can be achieved in 3mm scale – more examples later on.
