Oh Woe is Ventnor Station
I have featured Ventnor Station before on this blog. I took my mum there in 1965 and this was one of several visits I made in the 1960s. Then the station was a magnificent place with the wonderful trains plunging out from the tunnel under St Boniface Down and straight into the station, with its chalk cliffs containing offices in tunnels. It was just fantastic.
I went there in 2013 and was almost moved to tears at seeing this much loved place completely and utterly gone and converted to an industrial estate.
On a recent trip to the island I didn’t go to the old station site but we went for a walk on St Boniface Down. And there, far below we could see it.
