I stumbled across this thread on RMWeb.co.uk describing a series of British O scale layouts:
Give or take a few inches in either direction, each layout is based on an area of about one by six feet in size. The standard of modeling is superb and each is a strong example of how much truly great modeling can be done in such a space.
I feel like we often we confuse layout design with track planning and these layouts really speak to that distinction and each stand as terrific examples of good design:
– the designer has found a scale that he enjoys working in
– he understands the practical limitations of working in a large scale yet in a small space
