3mm West Fest –  Verwood

Had a brilliant day at Verwood , Dorset yesterday organised by the Dorset area group of the 3mm Society.

There was cake

And bacon rolls in the morning prior to opening at 10am. But most of all 3mm layouts.

Somehow Peter Bossom managed to get by the serving hatch for the refreshments with his layout Whatlington!

More of Peters work later

Then we had Andrew Shillitos Wantage

Andrew is also the Society New Products Officer and had on display point bases with other scales for comparison.

Next we have Hemlock making a rare appearance from Sunny Croydon with Mike Davey, Richard Preece from Croydon Model Railway Society (help or hindered by some bloke called Steve 😂)!

Then we have Richard Popes Dunkton Combe.

Steve Fackrell’s Hennock

Thealby – Hugh Martin

Mike Corps East Anglia layout – Heybridge Wharf

Brian Golding’s, Lambeth Walk

(The head belongs to Tony Seal!). Brian Golding is behind the layout at his Bryn Kits stand (good to see them back).

Earlier I mentioned we would comeback to Peter Bossom and his layout. A couple of his locos, firstly an 08 diesel shunter Triang body on 14.2 chassis – who says you cannot recycle 50+ year old models!

Another old kit made by Peter is a BEC Q1 known by many as the ugly duckling designed by O V Bullied for the Southern Railway during the war. Peter has made the kit up for 14.2 and even the mechanical lubricator works!

With the Society Shop & Peter White (wheels)selling to members only,  Linton Kits, Rob Hampton catering for Triang secondhand and 3SMR for all modelling needs a good day had by all.

Well done to Nigel, Collin and Steve and members of the Dorset Group for arranging the day.
