The Class 800: My Impression.

Part Time Spotter

Well after the wife managed to get 800309 twice last week I hoped I might be able to catch one of my own on the trip to Swansea or back to see what they are like.

Our train of choice was 1B10 07:45 Paddington to Swansea. On my last trip it was a good old fashioned HST (class 43) so when they announced the train being on platform 9 I was a bit surprised (and pleased) to see 800034 and 800020 there. A walk down the platform showed the green livery to be nice and between each coach the cables are on full view, this being rather curious as I have not seen this on any other train in the past. But the 800s are the future.

Door open smoothly with quite loud ‘hustle’ alarms. We managed to get a table seat on the right hand side facing direction…
