Council is to flag up 999 to mark emergency services day

Croydon Council announced yesterday that it is to mark Emergency Services Day tomorrow by hoisting a special flag outside the Town Hall at 999 – 9am on the 9th day of the 9th month.

The work of the emergency services, such as at the Croydon tram crash, is to be recognised in a new ceremony tomorrow

The annual event is to celebrated the massive contributions made by the 1million people who work or volunteer in the emergency services across the country.

Tomorrow will be the first time that such a ceremony has been staged, and Croydon is joining local authorities, fire, police and ambulance stations, HM Coastguard and RNLI stations across the country in marking public gratitude for the service and dedication shown by the emergency services, 24/7 and 365 days of the year.
