Mid Hants visit

Popped into the Mid Hants yesterday on the way down to the van.

Had a nice breakfast bap in the West Country Buffet in time to see the first service train of the day from Alresford.

So if your down that way, Breakfast bap highly recommend!

Normandy Group O Gauge Layout

On the way down to Weymouth this morning popped into the Mid Hants at Alresford with the good Mrs D for breakfast.

Being their Spring Gala weekend they had a Model railway layout in the old goods shed.

The Normandy O gauge group are locally based and came along with their SR shed layout. Lovely modelling along with some lovely locos.

As you can see plenty Dapol RTR on Show with a plethora of Terriers!

Being upstairs also gave an opportunity to see the stuff stored out the back. Amongst the berthed coaches was the BR Standard 2-6-4t being restored.

Also hanging on the wall is the nameplate for Sir Fredrick Pile.

After our visit we adjourned to the West Country buffet on the station for an egg bap each – lovely!

A short unexpected visit but always a pleasure 😊
